Academic education

Graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Rome on March 2, 1987, with a score of 105/110. Obtained professional qualification at the same University in the April 1987 exam session. Since April 1987, embarked on the training path as a medical intern at the Orthopedics Department of Bambino Gesù Children Hospital in Palidoro. Admitted to the Orthopedics and Traumatology specialization school of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in the academic year 1987/1988.


Interned at the Orthopedic Clinic from March 1987 to July 1988, participating in ward activities, plaster room, and operating room. In July 1988, appointed Contract Assistant at the II Orthopedics and Traumatology Division of the Research Institute Bambino Gesù Hospital in Palidoro - Rome.


Participated in foreign training courses on foot surgery at Hospital S.Rafael in Barcelona (Spain), pediatric orthopedic surgery at Children’s Hospital Harvard University in Boston (USA), and orthopedic surgery for cerebral palsy patients at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry (UK).

Clinical activity

For thirty years, has focused on orthopedic issues related to neuromuscular diseases, foot surgery, and pediatric orthopedic surgery. Engaged as an orthopedic consultant from September 1991 to September 1993 at UILDM in Rome (Italian Union for the Fight against Muscular Dystrophy).


From September 1993 to January 1998, served as an orthopedic consultant at Opera Don Guanella in Rome, a specialized center for the care and rehabilitation of Cerebral Palsy. Resumed the consultation from November 2011 to September 2015. From September 1994 to March 2004, consultant at the A.I.A.S. Center in Castellammare di Stabia. From September 1997 to March 2004, consultant at the A.I.A.S. Center in Afragola (Naples).


From June 1997 to March 2007, served as an orthopedic consultant at the Pediatric Neurorehabilitation Department of the Research Institute San Raffaele in Rome, a specialized center for the rehabilitation of cerebral palsy patients.


From September 1989 to date, has performed over 6,000 surgical interventions as the primary operator at the Orthopedics and Traumatology Unit of Bambino Gesù Hospital in Palidoro.


It is a member of the Italian Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology (SIOT), the Italian Society of the Ankle and Foot, and the Italian Society of Pediatric Orthopedics (SITOP).


In July 2007, appointed Head of High Specialization in "Orthopedic Surgery for Spasticity" at the Pediatric Surgery Department of Bambino Gesù Hospital.


In July 2010, confirmed as Head of High Specialization in "Neuro-Orthopedics" at the Surgery and Transplant Center of Rome. In December 2011, appointed Head of the Simple Structure of Neuro-orthopedics at the Surgical Department of Rome-Palidoro, a role confirmed in December 2014 and December 2017.



In 2010, appointed Medical Expert for the Congregation for the Causes of Saints by the Holy See. The Congregation is the dicastery of the Roman Curia that oversees theprocess that leads to the canonization of saints.


Until December 2018, served as Head of the Complex Structure at the Orthopedics Unit in Palidoro for a total of 16 months. Since January 2019, appointed Head of the Complex Structure of Orthopedics at Bambino Gesù Hospital in Palidoro.


In the field of Neuro-orthopedics, performs various interventions as described in the literature, including botulinum toxin injections, functional surgery (lengthenings and myotendinous transpositions, muscle balances), reconstructive surgery for acquired bone deformities (femoral and pelvic osteotomies, knee osteotomies, foot osteotomies and fusions), intrathecal baclofen pump implantation, and minimally invasive percutaneous fibrotomic surgery for spasticity.


In pediatric orthopedics, deals with classical pathologies such as congenital clubfoot, congenital hip dislocation, flatfoot, and scoliosis.

Academic activity

Since the academic year 2018/2019, teaches "Orthopedics and Traumatology" (SSD:MED/33) at the Specialization School in Orthopedics and Traumatology at the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome
